A Leucadia-born surfer and shaper known for blending experimental design with classic California craftsmanship. Deeply rooted in the local surf community, his hand-shaped boards reflect both artistry and performance.
That’s Zack Flores in a sentence. The longer version is more fun.
We linked up with Zack to shape a one-of-one surfboard for our summer sweeps — a real, hand-crafted board going to one lucky winner. But the board is only half the story. The other half is the guy who made it. We sat down with Zack to talk shaping, surfing, and what makes a good morning.
“This board is based off an early 70’s Steve Lis single fin that I have. The template surprised me how modern it was with the curve and pulled in nose. I’ve made my self 4 in different variations and love them all!” – Zack
Quick Hits With Zack
Favorite Squeeze: “I love the Blood Orange.”
Best Break: “Nowhere gets me excited to surf like Swamis on a good winter swell.”
Pre-surf meal: “If it’s early, coffee and eggs and toast. If it’s an afternoon session, I’m always going for a burger and fries.”
Zack’s board is a one-of-one — there’s not another like it and there won’t be. We’ll be drawing one winner at the end of the summer. Could be you. Could be the friend you forward this to. Either way, someone’s getting a Zack Flores original.
